Learn Blazor WebAssembly in an interactive way

Microsoft’s new single-page application framework allows you to use C# on both the client and server side and create interactive web applications on the .NET Framework. Toi Wright’s hands-on guide, Blazor WebAssembly By Example, is a response to the growing interest among developers in Blazor WebAssembly. Using standalone projects based on real-life experience to demonstrate the concepts covered in the book, Toi takes you on a journey through Blazor WebAssembly By Example. This approach is bound to help you acquire knowledge as quickly and efficiently as possible without getting bogged down by theory. With video examples of step-by-step instructions for each chapter, the supplemented content will give you hands-on experience in applying your new knowledge to projects, making it easier to absorb information.

Along the way, you’ll also find useful tips and quizzes at the end of each chapter to test your knowledge.

What’s inside the book?

This book kicks off by distinguishing the three hosting models so that you can understand when to use Blazor WebAssembly over Blazor Server and Blazor Hybrid. Once this is clear, Toi dives right into Blazor WebAssembly, its goals, and how to align them with your vision. She then helps you set up your computer for conducting the projects in the following chapters, which use Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2022, .NET 7, Microsoft SQL Server 2022 Express Edition, and Microsoft Azure.

The book is structured in a way that lets you complete the projects in any order you choose. However, the difficulty level increases with each chapter, so you might want to start at the beginning and work your way through. The book is designed to cater to your learning level and pace, offering the flexibility to skip chapters based on your learning goal. Each chapter contains a project for you to apply what you have learned.

What inspired you to write Blazor WebAssembly By Example?

The first time that I saw Blazor WebAssembly, I knew that I wanted to learn more about it. And as I learned more, I realized that Blazor is the future of web development. I wrote this book to make it easier for other developers to learn Blazor WebAssembly.

What are the key features of the book and who is it for?

Each chapter covers a different topic and includes a standalone project, so you can cover the chapters in any order. If you are a web developer who is interested in developing an SPA that allows you to use C# on both the backend and the frontend, this book is for you.

What stands out in the second edition of Blazor WebAssembly By Example?

It’s over twice as long as the first edition, with all the previous projects updated and three new ones added to cover debugging in both Visual Studio and the browser, deploying to Azure, uploading files, and using Microsoft Azure Active Directory to secure a Blazor WebAssembly application.
